The West Coast Wilderness Trail starts at Greymouth, the major commercial centre of the West Coast. Riders will pass through Hokitika which along with Greymouth provides a full range of accommodation, services and adventure tours.
The historic villages of Kumara, Milltown, Kaniere, Ruatapu and Ross will provide opportunities to meet the locals on a personal level and enjoy some good old-fashioned West Coast hospitality.
The main route will be a grade 2 (easy) ride, catering for all levels of riding abilities, including families. The trail is initially beside the ocean and a wetland reserve before weaving through tall forest and finally using a disused railway line for the final leg of the journey to Ross.
